I want to train my dog cool tricks, any suggestions? He knows the basics like sit, stay, come, ect. If you have a trick please include the steps to it aswell.
Also, I was just wondering if you can teach a cat tricks

yes you can train your cat but it takes alot of patience. I trained my dog to turn off the lights, I got him to jump up onto the wall by holding a treat above the light switch on the wall and i give him a one word command like "lights" I give him the treat only if his paw hits the light switch and the light goes off. but first I give him a treat just for getting his paws up on the wall.
then I taught him to get the mail and I taught him to take different things to other members of the family in various places in and around the house. like I had him take my brothers mail to him upstairs while I was downstairs in the house. he took a newspaper to my mom out in the garden while I remained inside the house.
I taught him to pick up and return to me anything I may drop while walking. so if I drop my keys or wallet while walking, I can send him back down the street to retrieve it for me.
you have to first train him to accept something in his mouth like a stick or newspaper or toy, he has to just let you place it in his mouth then reward him even if he spits it out immediately reward him so he knows putting something in his mouth will get him a reward. then get him to hold it there in his mouth tell him to hold, and if he does that even for a few minutes then reward him. then move on to "give" after he mastered holding on to something, tell him to give and gently take it out of his mouth and reward him. soon he will volutarily give it back to you. after he does that then you have to teach him to do this at a distance increasing the distance a little each week. to make him give the item to someone else you have to walk him with the item in his mouth and have that person give the comand to give. reward the dog if he volutarily give up the item to the other person then call him back to you, increase the distance a little each week.
its all about patience and small increments "baby steps" if the dogs does anything even slightly close to what you want him to do then reward him. so he knows thats what you want. don't get frustrated and dont get angry and never punish the dog, just reward or no reward is all. and determine what you dog will "work" for, ie a treat, a toy or just praise ect. and use that for you training reward.
