The only way to keep a dog in the yard is to put up a fence. I watched helplessly when my neighbor ran over his own dog while it was chasing his car. I had warned him over and over the dog was in danger of being struck by a car. After the dog was struck and killed the guy just drove away. He didn't know he just killed his dog. So I got in my truck and chased and followed him to a Quick-Stop Mart. When he got out I had already lost all control of my calm. I gave him the whuppin of a lifetime! Then I told him to go home and bury the dog or I would do it again every day until I forgot why I was diong the whuppin. He burried his dog.
Your new puppy should be on a leash at all times.
A fence is your only guarantee that this will not happen again.
