When you are choosing a dog for you and your family, the first thing that you need to think about is if a big dog or a small dog will be best. Getting a puppy can allow you to make sure that the dog is trained exactly as you would like him to be. However, rescuing an older dog can make you feel great because you know that you’ll be giving a home to a dog that wouldn’t otherwise have a home. Therefore, these are the choices that you’ll need to make when it comes time to decide which dog you want to add to your family.
Another important decision might be whether you want one dog or more than one dog. Often, getting two dogs can be more work – but, on the other hand, if you have to leave your dogs alone, having more than one can be better for them because they’ll be less apt to get lonely if you leave them with a friend of their own. If you are always home, however, and always there to give your dog attention, just getting one dog might be enough for you.
