Going Out Shooting? Don’t Forget Your Electronic Hearing Protection

Nothing could be much worse than coming back from an afternoon of hunting to find out that you’re ears are ringing from the gunshots and other sounds that you’re faced with when hunting. Not only is it frustrating, but it can last for many hours. It’s better for you if you use a hearing protection device when you’re hunting, this will help protect your hearing as well as ensure you’re ears aren’t ringing when you arrive back at home!

Electronic hearing protection for Hunters

The most effective hearing protection you can use are electronic “earmuffs” or hearing protectors. These are comfortable, easy to use, and allow you to hear normal sounds and conversation and can even enhance your hearing while still blocking out loud gunshots. The two most quality devices of this kind are the Peltor electronic hearing device and the Pro Ears Predator 2000.

Benefits

The most significant benefit to an electronic hearing device is that it allows you to block out noises such as a shotgun blast (which can startle even the most seasoned hunter) while allowing low level noises that you might need to be aware of to get through.

Amplification

Both of the devices mentioned also allow for amplification of sound, if needed. Whether you have pre-existing hearing loss or just want to hear the sounds of nature better, these can help with that. While amplification is on, loud noises like gunfire are still automatically blocked, so these noises won’t be amplified to cause more damage.

Hearing and Hunting

In order to be a good hunter, you know that you must be able to hear well so that you’re always aware of what is happening in your surroundings. When your ears allow a great amount of noise to go through, you might become startled by gunshots of other hunters in the same vicinity. As a result of using an electronic hearing device like the Peltor or Pro Ears Predator, you can be well aware of your immediate environment while blocking out noises and sounds that may distract you while you’re hunting.

Comparison

Peltor Electronic Hearing Device and the Pro ears Predator electronic hearing devices both use batteries. They offer similar noise buffering capabilities and both work automatically to block the loud noises (high decibels). They also both come in a variety of sizes, styles, etc. to fit everyone: including women and children.

Summary

If you’re introducing someone to the shooting or hunting sports and if you’re a participant yourself, you’ll definitely want to make sure you’ve got some good hearing protection. Nothing is better than electronic hearing protectors like the Peltor or the Pro Ears Predator. These safety devices are cost effective and definitely worth looking at.
